Made to Order Portable Air Conditioner Window Vents
To avoid the costs of permanently installing a heat pump or air conditioning unit many are choosing to use portable A/C units. Moving units from room to room at the convenience of the user. The portable units need to be ventilated out a window in order for the space to cool down.
Improve your portable A/C unit with PF&D's window vents. Our custom A/C window vent covers provide a better fit on your window to keep the hot temperatures, dust, and bugs out while giving a cleaner look to your space. Often the window vent covers that come with these portable A/C units are difficult to move, hard to adjust, poor quality, and cause you to lose privacy and natural light. Whatever your preference is for your space these vents will improve your experience handling, moving, and maintaining portable A/C units.

Choosing how thick you want your material: For a SECTIONAL window vent make sure there is a slot or track in your window that your choice of thickness can easily be placed into. FULL window vents most likely do not need a 1/4" material, being connected by velcro to the window frame, 1/8" thick material or thinner will hang the best.

-
Polycarbonate Material: Stronger, uv protectant layer, insulating, and impact resistant. Comes in clear 3/16", 1/8", or 1/4".

Measuring Your Window Vent Dimensions

Whether you require a SECTIONAL or FULL vent cover depends on your window. We do not sell window vents as small, medium, or large. To ensure the proper fit on your window PF & D recommends measuring your windows to make sure everything is square and the custom cut window vent is the right size. Giving you a good seal and making your install easy.

-
Casement, Hopper, and Awning Windows: any window hinged on one side allowing it to open outward. For any window that opens outward you will need a FULL size window vent.

-
Sliding Windows (Single Hung or Double Hung): For windows that open by sliding. Sideways or, up and down, a SECTIONAL vent will work.

Measuring for a FULL Window Vent

-
Measure from outside edge to outside edge of your window screen. Make sure it is the very edge of your screen, over any lips and trims. Make sure your screen is square by measuring all the way across on the top, bottom, left and right sides. If your measurements have more than a 1/4" difference get an average by adding your two measurements together and dividing by two.
-
If you want to go a bit wider and taller than the screen so the window cover makes more contact with the window frame that is fine but, be sure no handles, levers, blinds (mounts), curtains, will be in the way when you install. Also make sure the vent will be cut in the proper spot as the standard is 3" from the edge.

Installing Your Portable A/C Window Vent

FULL Window Vents: Using velcro tape on the edge of the window cover and window. It will give you a quick installation and easy take down. The stick on velcro is easy to clean when removed, Velcro can be found in different colours if you want to match your window trim and in heavy duty grip strength for windows that get heavy winds.
SECTIONAL Window Vents: Place your window vent in the track and close the window gently to secure the cover in place.

If you want a better seal you can add a strip of foam or rubber seal tape around the edge of the window cover where it makes contact with the window frame. Adding tinted or frosted privacy film found at most home stores can give you more privacy and help reflect more heat away.

Example One: Measure from the inside of the window track to the outside edge of the window frame on the opposite side.
Measure from the outside edge of your screen
Straight across to the other outside edge of the screen
A measurement straight across on the top, bottom, left, and right of the screen will tell if your screen is square.
